Meet Kati Tomco
I am a mom of 3 wonderful children and married to an amazing man. I have always been a passionate advocate for ensuring student success for all students and family partnership. Thank you for taking the time to learn about my vision as a member of the Riverside School Board.
I believe our school board has a crucial responsibility to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive. My commitment to this district isn't just about policy; it's personal. As a parent and educator of 3 children who attend or have attended the RLSD, as well as a multi-generational graduate myself, I've seen firsthand the dedication of our teachers and the potential of our students. I've also recognized areas where we can do better, and that's why I'm running for a seat on the school board.
I am a firm believer that the school board's financial decisions should be transparent, responsible, and directly tied to student outcomes. As a board member, I will advocate for a budget that is both fiscally responsible and reflective of our community's values. This means understanding every expenditure serves a clear educational purpose and aligns with the strategic goals of the district.
Furthermore, I am committed to making community voice a central part of the decision-making process. I will actively listen to input from parents, teachers, students, and community members on all major financial and policy decisions. I believe that a healthy school district is built on open communication and collaboration. Your voice matters, and I will be a board member who listens.
My professional background in education has equipped me with a unique set of skills that I believe will be invaluable to the board. I am an analytical problem-solver, a collaborative team player, and a strong communicator. I'm not afraid to ask tough questions and I'm committed to making informed decisions based on data and community input, not just ideology.
My priorities are clear:
Student Success for All: I will champion policies that support academic excellence, foster critical thinking, and prepare every student, regardless of background or ability, for a rapidly changing world. This includes providing tailored resources for students with diverse learning needs and ensuring equitable access to opportunities.
Teacher Empowerment: Our educators are the heart of our schools. I will work to ensure they have the resources, professional development, and support they need to succeed.
Fiscal Responsibility: I will advocate for a budget that is transparent, responsible, and directly benefits our students and classrooms.
Community Partnership: I believe our schools are the hub of our community. I will work to strengthen the partnership between parents, educators, and local organizations to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
I am not running to represent a specific group or a single issue. I am running to represent all of our students and all of our families. I am committed to listening to your concerns, answering your questions, and working collaboratively to build a brighter future for our schools.
